Question Ubuntu 12.10, Netbook Microphone somewhat working

I installed 12.10 on an Acer AOD250 machine, and it works really well(far better than I thought).
But the Mic is still acting a little odd.
I open the sound settings and the microphone there picks up nothing, along with Skype, though I ran Audacity and it gave me an option to choose the Mic(HDA Intel: ALC272) and it works just fine.
I opened alsamixer and turned the Mic up from there and it still doesn't work under sound settings and Skype.

Is there any way I can force Ubuntu to use my internal Mic?

I even gave Fixing the Microphone https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOneAOD250 a shot.
I tried the 1st option and it didn't work.
The ftp server is down on the 2nd option.

I downloaded and installed Lubuntu 12.10 and they worked right out of the box(recording and Skype).
