Start application on new desktop at startup?

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 and Gnome 3.4.1. I have several applications set to run at startup. I used Startup Application Preferences to accomplish this. It works fine, my applications run at startup.

I would like these applications to be grouped on different desktops though. Right now I have to move the applications onto three different desktops after my machine starts. I was looking for a way to start applications on specific desktops at startup.

Is there a way to do this?

    Please see this earlier thread:

Other than that, you'd have to be more specific about what desktop session you are actually using.

    Regards.

I don't believe I'm running Compiz. I did not intentionally install Compiz and I don't have CompizConfig Setting Manager installed either. I simply installed gnome-desktop after installing Ubuntu 12.04.

How would I determine what desktop session I was running?

Thanks for the reply, sorry for taking so long to respond. I was out of town all week on a work trip.
