    Question General error mounting filesystem

    Hi,

I have come across error within booting process:
    General error mounting filesystem
A maintenance shell will now be started
CONTROL-D will terminate this shell and reboot the system
    Give root password for maintenance
    (or type Control-D to continue):
after password typed it got into console with read only filesystem but no desktop.

Can anybody please help me what does it mean and how to investigate to get back to desktop ?

    thank you,
    kind regards,
    Martin
