Ubuntu Server install on external network hard drive

    Hello,

I have a WD My Book live 2TB Network hard drive and was wondering if it is possible to install Ubuntu onto it and run as a server by itself (not connected directly to a PC)? It connects via ethernet to my router.

    Thanks for any help!

You need more than a hard drive to run an operating system, such as a processor, some ram etc

    Hi,

The WD network hard drive does have a processor and RAM...

    1 GHz APM82181 processor
    256MB RAM
