Tried to Install Spotify and now Software Centre & Update Manager will not open

Probably (and hopefully) a simple fix, but I'm still a noob.

Neither will open using the icons. This is what I get when trying to manually through the terminal

    peter@peter-laptop:~$ sudo apt-get update
    [sudo] password for peter:
E: Malformed line 55 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse)
E: The list of sources could not be read.

Here's the contents after doing this gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

I presume those should be changed in etc\apt\sources.list, but my laptop keeps saying I am not authorized. I am trying to update file via editor. Should I be trying from the command line? If so, what is that command, because I am now lost.

You need root privileges to edit a file outside of your home folder:
    Code:
    gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
