Mic and Webcam Not Working

I realize that this isn't exactly an uncommon problem, but I've spent days searching for a solution and still couldn't fix it.

I have a built-in mic and webcam on an HP Mini-210. I made sure that the mic is not muted, and nothing shows up under "Additional Drivers."

Opening Cheese just shows "No device found," and Sound Recorder is not recording anything. Neither of these work with Skype, either. Plugging in my Logitech USB headset does work for recording sound, but I haven't tried a USB webcam.
