    Making Ubuntu the default boot

I'm not really a beginner, but I only really ever know as much as one. As a result, I have to come here with even very simple questions like this:

How do I make my dual booting netbook (Acer, cheap, old) boot 12.04 rather than Windows XP as its default. Right now it gives me that selection screen everytime with the countdown thing. Like most people, I ofen hit power on the computer then walk away for a minute. I come back, and Windows is running. Well, "running." Anyway, how do I make it default to Ubuntu instead. In fact, is it possible to make it so I have to press a key during boot up in the rare, rare, rare event that I want to start WIndows and to otherwise start Ubuntu without even asking me to choose it? Thanks.
