Cannot get Joystick to work for urbanterror
I am a new convert to linux and have ubuntu 12.04 on all my computers now and bore all my friends with how good it is.
I also just discovered urbanterror 4.2 and would like to play it with my joystick and mouse rather than keyboard and mouse. I used to do this sucessfully with counterstrike a few years back until steam took it over.
The joystick i have is basically a generic joypad type thing. It seems to be recognised by ubuntu on my laptop as I installed rejoystick and this recognises joystick movement.
I also downloaded qjoypad-4.1.0 but never got this to successfully configure/make and not sure what the issue is.
I read on some other forms that it is possible to activate joystick support by inserting the line "seta in_joystick "1" into a configuration file in the q3ut4 folder and running it in the urbanterror console. I did this but still get no movement using the joystick in the game. Although the joystick can affect menu selections when selecting weapons for example.
So whats the issue- how can I get my joystick to work in urbanterror- preferably I would like to bind keys to the joystick and get them to work in urban terror. It must be possible. I just do not know how. I do not like playing with the keyboard as it is too slow for me.
Alternatively I could go back to counterstrike but would prefer to avoid the whole steam thing. I still havent forgiven them for taking over a game I already bought and never previously needed there permission to play.
