Tablet PC - Linux OS Instead of Android...?

Why the android is separate OS from Linux installed on tablet PC.
In future will there be any option to directly install the Linux into the tablet PC's.

What I am telling is directly install the Linux OS in the tablet PC instead of android.

    With Regards,

You need to be asking Google that -- they are the ones who control Android.
    Ubuntu 20.04, Mint 19.10; MS Win10 Pro.
Will not respond to PM requests for support -- use the forums.

This is not a support question. It is more of a discussion question and should be in the Community Cafe section of the forum.

Linux is Open Source. There is nothing to stop someone with a lot of money - that is Google - from taking Linux and modifying it to produce a specific version of Linux called Android.

The Linux OS, by itself, does not have the capabilities to run a tablet PC. It needs a desktop environment and a user interface and all the other things that make a Linux distribution.

The Linux developers work on the Linux OS to give it the capabilities of working on various types of hardware. Others work on developing the desktop environment and the user interface.

What Google has done is to produce an Linux OS that will run on mobile phones and tablet PCs in direct competition with other market players and then use their influence with hardware makers to get these devices running Android on the market.

Just look at what Ubuntu is moving on to:

    http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/android

This can be done because Android is a form of Linux.

It lets Android and Ubuntu share the same Linux kernel, so they can run at the same time
So, it is not simply a case of putting Linux on a tablet PC.

    Regards.

It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.
