Opening new tab displays past windows

There is a setting in edit>preferences to display my home page or windows and tabs from past sessions when I open a new browser. However, I am seeing windows from past sessions when I open a new TAB. I do not see a setting to change this function. Where is it?

Are you talking about thumbnails of frequently visited sites on the new tab page? To hide/disable that, there is a small icon in the top right corner which looks like a series of squares. Click that and they will be hidden.

    Thanks,
