    Thunderbird & user-created warnings

    Hello.

when using Thunderbird - if i Use the word 'attached' / 'attachment' in an email, thunderbird will give me a big warning when I try & send the email (if i have not actually attached anything).

Is there a way in thunderbird to create our own warnings ? Basically, I sometimes type a word/phrase into an email, & it is marked as a spelling error (I'm not sure - but i think they are). but thunderbird still sends the email - with little/no warning of my error.

I believe if you do the following you can turn this warning off.....

    1. Go to Preferences in TB
    2. Select Composition Tab
    3. Under the General Tab (located under Composition) uncheck "Check for missing attachments"

I believe this will fix your warnings issue.

No I *WANT* a warning if i use a particular word/phrase in my email. Its a valid word, but I use it instead of the other word that I want.

so i want a big warning message - To tell me if I've used this particular word in error.

For all clarity purposes can you please provide an example of what you are wanting such as the word or phrase?

Example: I use a particular website.

    http://www.test-eeng.com/

    but I often put http://www.test-eng.com/

(Thats a fake / test website - i havn't checked it out...) - i want a BIG warning, if I use test-eng.com (with or without the http / www )

EDIT: the "incorrect" website is also a valid word/phrase in the dictionary.

Would you not be able to go into the same area that I had pointed you to and this time select key words. At this point place the different variations of the potential typos to help you resolve this. It will still show up as "an attachment is missing", however, it will still give an alert that you have misspelled a word or words.

I'm not for certain that you would be able to give customized warnings for Thunderbird....though if we can....I definitely think it would be cool.

    Wow. thank you.

It works. Though, it would be good if this could be enhanced to something other than an 'attachment' warning.

BUT - I'll try it in the meantime. It looks promising

As a workaround could you put the cart in front of the horse and type your body of the email prior to placing any attachments that way the solution would still work for you?

It might be a pain to do it that way (obviously you don't want to forget an attachment) but it would cut down on any misspellings you may have had otherwise.
