    No does not connect.

few things that change off topic, there was a blue solid light that is no longer on. There is an LED light that never came on at all.

i can see the networks and i clicked on my network and it asked for code and entered but returned no connection result

boot up first to see if it will connect or that is not necessary?

The presence or absence of an LED is not conclusive. You can see and try to connect to networks; that's more meaningful.

Let's see if there are any clues in the last part of syslog:
    Code:
    sudo cat /var/log/syslog | grep etwork | tail -n20
After you post the result, do:
    Code:
    sudo su
    echo "blacklist rtl8192cu" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
    exit
    Reboot.

    Any change in behavior?

    No connection yet.

Different symtoms, it searches for the networks. I clicked on the wireless symbol and i see my network i click on it but this time it does not even ask password it just gives up and stops refreshing. This is after reboot.

Have you placed any extra settings in Network Manager? if so, they need to be removed. Normally, NM will do all the setting without assistance, aside from the password. NM should be set as attached.

I assume, from your scan results, that your network is set to WEP encryption. How many characters are in your key?

Hi chili I was hoping you would stop by and help out - is it possible that the OP's previous attempts to fix have left some cruft around? The syslog seems to be showing an issue with DHCP and I wondered if that might be a result of a conflict with wicd?

Mar - did you purge wicd when you reinstalled network-manager?

    Code:
    sudo apt-get purge wicd
