How to RDP into server 12.04?

    Hi all,

I've just installed Ubuntu Server 12.04 on a machine. I'd like to RDP from my work machine (Windows 7) into the server.

I tried startx but I think I need to do more. Is Gnome there by default? Do I need to install a rdesktop service?

    Thanks,
    rick

Ubuntu server does not have a gui by default.
If you are good at command line ssh into the server with putty.

Is this a production server or home server?

Google : install gui in ubuntu server 12.04

    Or see this http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-ins...se-server.html

    Hope it helps

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I'm comfortable with SSH via terminal, but I'd prefer to have a desktop environment I can RDP into.

This isn't for anything serious other than home level tasks.
