Clock updates only once an hour

Howdy.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04. I'm using Cinnamon as my desktop, and have posted this question on their forums as well, but just in case this is a generic Ubuntu bug i'm also asking here.

uname -a:

For some reason my clock only widget updates once an hour. Running 'date' in terminal works fine, however the widget doesn't.

Any ideas?
