Re: Source Distros worth it these days?
Personally I think Source Distros are relevant to those that only want to install what they need. In a server operation this could work out for the benefit if you need specific compilation on the hardware you're using. Other than that for the general user there is no need. Personally I don't care to compile unless its an app thats not avail as a deb or that. Either way its your choice. Ubuntu does stable releases they don't always have the latest and greatest they stick with whats stable and push security updates. If you want a constantly changing distro try Debian or Linux Mint Debian Edition where you always get the latest and greatest and don't have to wait for a new release every 6-12 months.
