Lemur Ultra 4 Over Heating

I recently purchased a computer identical to a Lemur Ultra 4. It has Ubuntu 12.04 with all current updates, plus I managed to install the System76 Driver by tweaking the source a bit.

Anyway, this question may or may not be System76 specific, but my system is running at CPU core temps of about 55C to 65C when idling. Fan runs a little at those temps but for it to really kick in it has to get to 75C+. I in fact built this system myself (it's a Clevo W24AEU barebones), so I'm not sure if it's that I didn't attach the heat pipe correctly (this is my first barebones laptop), or if there's some tweaks I need to manually do to Ubuntu to help it cool (the fan doesn't run enough in my opinion to cool it properly) or if there's any tricks System76 has done to help keep the Lemur Ultra 4/W24AEU cool.

Question in short: does a "real" System76 Lemur Ultra 4 run hot and, if not, what can I learn from System76 to make mine run cooler?

Intel Core i5-3210M
G-Skill 1600 4GB RAM.
Seagate 500GB 7200RPM Hybrid Hard Drive
Intel Advanced-N 6235

I've had this computer a couple of weeks now and I'd like it to be cooler.

Edit: You may be wondering why I built a bare bones instead of buying a System 76. First, I wanted to try building a barebones. Second, I didn't realize that the lemu4 is based on the Clevo W24AEU till I had already bought it. Third, it was a bit cheaper.

Did you check how was the thermal paste after removing the sticker on the heat Pipe ?

I usually remove it and add my own "Artic silver" thermal paste.

You should have an idle temp around 50 degrees and a fan quickly lowering the temp when it exceed 70 degrees.

Since my idling temp is around 55 C and my moderate-usage temp is aroud 60 C I guess I'm not running too much hotter than I ought to. I might try the Arctic Silver thermal paste.

The absolute coolest my i7 Lemur Ultra rev 4 runs is 50C using Jupiter Applet set to Power Savings

Regular use I get about 55C even when set to power savings

My system hovers around 58-60 C before the fan kicks in at a medium speed at lower temps it either turns off or spins super slow to the point where I can't really hear it unless I put my ear to the body. (I'm using an SSD so it's not the hard drive).

I've found that 60-65C is where my system averages when watching videos in Flash or HTML5 on YouTube. I have had it go as high as 70C and probably higher than 75C+ at times but rarely do I really use it under a heavy load.

This is an issue of interest to me, as I like my laptop, especially the trackpad area to be nice and cool to the touch. So far, it seems the best thing one can do to lower running temps is to use an external fan. My temperature ranges are pretty much the same as those posted by joe4ska, so it's nothing in the configuration itself. I guess heat is only now becoming a concern for Intel...

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but does anyone know the temperature at which the fan spins high? I'm seeing temps of 60-65 C, and the fan still seems to be low. The trackpad is uncomfortably hot to the touch.

It's ridiculous that there is no ability to control the fan. I'm having buyers remorse on this lemu4...
