Evolution Mail & Rubbish Bin Question?

When I delete an email from my Inbox by clicking the Rubbish Bin icon on the top bar, the message goes into the Rubbish Bin, but only for a few seconds, it is then deleted altogether.
Is there a setting so that when I Delete a message it stays in the Rubbish Bin until I empty it?

what mail client are you using?, thunderbird?.

It has to have a settings tab for deleted mail in preferences, mail options or something similar.

Its in the Title... Evolution (sarcasm)
There is a settings tab. If you go to preferences/mail accounts, then change the defaults for the waste basket account. But that isn't the problem. The settings are correct, but anything you delete, just stays in the waste basket for a matter of seconds & then is permanently deleted. It's that. that I want to stop happening.

LOL, yes it is in the title, I missed it.

I also have evolution and I don't have this problem. I have to clean trash mail folder to get the deleted mail disappearing. I have been looking for any place to clean trash mail folder inmediatly but I haven't found.

In mail settings, in preferences, I have thick to clean trash when log out each time, but evolution doesn't do, I have to clean the trash manually.

    Strange.
I do remember trying Evolution a couple of years ago & had the same problem.
Thunderbird behaves fine with gmail, but I thought i'd try the native Gnome app instead.
It's only this one problem I can't get around.

OK. This gets even more strange.
If I delete a message from spam or junk, it goes into the "Rubbish Bin" folder & stays there. (like it should)
It appears that its only messages that are deleted from the inbox that disappear from the Rubbish Bin.
    Even more confused now
Think I may have to revert to thunderbird.
