Urgent! Built-in mic works in Skype but not Firefox

I have an interview on Tuesday with an online tutoring service, and I was directed to the site schooltutoring.com/check to make sure my microphone works. Apparently, when you open the website, a window should pop up requesting access to the microphone. However, when I access the site, nothing happens. The people at the tutoring company cannot give me any insight into this problem. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Flash (which I guess is the program performing the check) - both Firefox and Opera recognize Flash as installed, but nothing happens when I check the mic. I have checked it in Skype, and it works, so I know the problem is not with my hardware. Oh, and I have Ubuntu 12.04 on a Dell Inspiron.

Anyone have any ideas? I would really like this job...

You may well need to allow Flash to have access to the microphone. The Flash Settings Manager:

    http://www.macromedia.com/support/do...manager02.html

will allow you to specify which URLs are allowed access to the microphone.

Note that, for me, the settings manager never remembers what you set between browser sessions so you'll need to do this every time.

    Steve.
