    music manager on 64MB ram

I have an old p3 laptop with just 64MB ram. I want to set it up with an audio player that can handle music collections (ie itunes, amarok ect).
Any recommendations as to which distro to use? (I tried puppy, which ran smoothly but has no decent music players).

i'm not sure you could run a bloated music player like amarok on a 64mb laptop.

I bet MPD would do the trick for you. I discovered it on Casper Clemens Mierau's blog and I love it. He gives step by step instructions on how to install it as well as various options for players that work with it. I usually use either Relaxx in my browser or Sonata, but Ario is pretty nice, too. I love MPD so much I blogged it (the 5th comment on Casper's post).

mpd+ncmpc would do the trick, mpd+Sonata if you want a GUI.

Since it's not availiable for that many distros, just compile it yourself. Should be pretty straight forward.

+1 for cplay. cmus is also pretty easy to use. you could also just use your file manager to manage your music. you could make a playlist folder and copy tracks to that folder and then just use mplayer to play the playlist, like mplayer music/playlist/*.
