    2 gnome classic issues

    1) How to you change the color of the text of the desktop icons to white without it affecting other applications?

    2) How do you change the icons in the notification area - especially the power and volume icons?

    Many thanks.

About second question, you can change the icons in notification tray with gnome-tweak-tool, in the theme tab you can select the icon's theme.

Thanks for your help but that does not change the icons in the notification area for me.

The icons should change when a new theme is selected unless the icon themes share the same indicators. If that is not the case try logging out and back in. The Ubuntu default icon sets are all very similar .
    Infinite diversity in infinite combination.
