Halo, I am using Ubuntu 12.04 with MS Office 2007 in Wine 1.4.
For some reason, I am unable to open any Excel files that are password protected. Unfortunately, I am forced to do this for work.
Is there any way of getting past this?
Thank you

You mean, even if you HAVE the password?
Wine doesn't work well with Office versions 2007 or newer.

The SILVER rating means that some functions simply won't work in Wine.
Ubuntu 20.04, Mint 19.10; MS Win10 Pro.
Will not respond to PM requests for support -- use the forums.
Yes, I have the password, and I am 100% sure that it is being entered correctly...
I have seen similar problems in forums but it seems like nobody has a solution for this.

Have you tried maybe running Windows native via a virtualbox?
Yes I have, but that's really slow and slows down my PC.

Don't waste your energy trying to change opinions ... Do your thing, and don't care if they like it.
Why don't you use Libre office Calculator? I use it and works beautifully. You could probably import your excel sheets into it. I don't use any MS office programs any more.
There is also Open Office which I think now is called Apache Open Office both of these office apps are full featured and will do anything MS Office,Excel, will do. I personally have not had very good luck with Wine although some swear by it.
