What to do if one's thread gets hijacked by a tattle tail and a good debate is lost ?

Hi Please look at the following thread:

The best 5 new features in Gnome Files 3.6

I don't think it's alright to interrupt a good debate when it can be productive, even if it's a bit of topic and the tone can be a bit harsh once and a while.

I think that the Ubuntu forums, over time, has become smothered in 'niceness', because of the CoC, to a degree where it don't allow a healthy debate.

Please post your thoughts on the subject.
    Thanks.
