    Removing items from menu bar in 12.04? (Gnome classic)

    I just switched from 10.04 to 12.04. I am using Gnome Classic. In 10.04, right clicking an icon on the menu bar (I think that's what it's called - the bar with Applications, Places, and quick launch icons) would give the option to remove it. However, in 12.04 right clicking only gives 'Launch' and 'Properties' options, and Properties does not contain an option to remove it. How can I remove an icon?

    On the icon in panel you want to remove, you have to do alt +right click, then appears the menu with two options:

    move
    remove from panel

    It beats me how they managed to make that little task SO damned obvious.

    Thanks Claracc.

    When I press Alt, and right click, nothing happens. Nothing happens when I press Ctrl or Shift, and right click.

    Any suggestions to fix this??

    Thanks

    There are two "classic" sessions;

    1: Gnome Classic which uses the Compiz window manager. To edit 'gnome-panel' in this session you must Alt+Super/Windows key+right-click.

    2: Gnome Classic (no effects) which uses the Metacity window manager. To edit 'gnome-panel' in this session you need only Alt+right-click.
