The database is on the backend machine, it is not replicated on the frontend. You can get all the information you need from the prompt that works.

Using VDPAU Normal as the target (preferred) profile...

    On the backend machine:
    Code:

Now I need to get this same info for my frontend? If you guys mentioned how to do it, I apologize, but if you could repeat it, I would appreciate it. I have no experience with mysql, although, it makes sense that the database is only on the backend. So, how to get the above for a frontend machine is what I need to do now right? help :/

Eyeball the listed hostnames, find the target..
    (for example "mymaster")

    Code:
echo "select select * from displayprofilegroups where hostname = 'mymaster';" | mysql -N -umythtv -pmythtv mythconverg

Well, I'm not sure what the password is for user mythtv, so I can't run these commands. "ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"

I tried "mythtv", the root password, the mysql password, everything I could think of to try, even if I didn't think it would work...no luck.

Just substitute your frontend's hostname for the backend's ie in
    Code:
    where hostname = 'xxx'
    .

This is for the frontend, but it looks exactly the same except that there are a couple more options at the end (that seem pretty unimportant to me, i.e. skip loop).

    Code:
    mysql> select * from displayprofilegroups where hostname = 'R3610';
    +---------------------+----------+----------------+
    | name | hostname | profilegroupid |

    | Normal | R3610 | 14 |
    | Slim | R3610 | 15 |
    | VDPAU High Quality | R3610 | 16 |
    | VDPAU Normal | R3610 | 17 |

Change the options (in mythtv frontend setup|video) so they are the same as the machine that works and see if that makes a difference.

    There was one thing different:
Default group filter to apply: Default (vs All Programs, which was on my working machine)

Changed that, but it didn't help.

In post 65 you told us there were a number of differences. Now in post 67 you tell us there was only one. You are confusing me, and perhaps yourself.

Ok, the mysql thing shows that all the settings are the same. However, the machine that is not working shows a couple of "extra" settings using the mysql method.

    posted previously:
    Code:
    | 17 | 53 | pref_cmp1 | |
    | 17 | 53 | pref_skiploop | 1 |
    | 17 | 54 | pref_cmp1 | |
    | 17 | 54 | pref_skiploop | 1 |
    +----------------+-----------+--------------------+-------------------------+
These settings do not show up in the mysql dump of the working machine. In other words, it's not a matter of things not matching...these settings did not show up at all.

Next is the screen by screen GUI comparison.
I went screen by screen and compared every setting in the setup>video options. There was only 1 difference I could see. I matched that one up, but it did not help.

Re: vdpau black screen (monitor off) in mythTV

Except for those extra couple of settings (which, I'm not even sure what they are, nor how to set them in the gui), I don't know what else to do. The tv video is like it is turning off (just like before), but it is something else that is causing the exact same thing (from the user perspective).

Those filters that we took out before (with originally fixed it)...is there something else that would do a similar thing that I can check?

Thanks guys for all your help. I'm sorry I made it confusing.
