    Have you been bumped back to the nouveau driver after the update?

    Have a look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log..

    start the FE from terminal
    mythfrontend -v all

    then do what every makes the screen go blank/black/off.

    try <alt>+<tab> to change focus to terminal or exit FE if you have to.

    Only one has a filter, the others are blank.
    The one that has a filter is VDPAU Slim, which is vdpauskipchroma.

    Good idea. I did not purge anything nvidia. I'm running 295.40.

    Below is the output. I went directly to a recording let it play for about 5 seconds, escaped out and then copied the ouput.

    Try switching from the QT painter to openGL.
    I thought some of the themes did not like QT..

    I take it that the posted stdout playback log did not involve any screen blanking ??

    The screen is blanking out and just like before, I can hear the audio. I also changed to Opengl in the appearance option menu, but it didn't make a difference (the above dump is using opengl, whereas the previous dump used Qt).

    The theme I am using is the same one I've always used and never changed the painter. It was always whatever is default (Qt, I guess).

    Are there any clues in /var/log/Xorg.0.log that show up at the same time as the screen goes blank/off?

    Do you have the Myth fe set up to use different video mode for GUI & to playback?

    You posted previous that this TV worked okay with another revo-ION box?
    Suggests there must be a residual config file or myth database setting causing this problem.

    When you use nvidia-settings:
    - do all the listed available video modes actually work when you select them?
    - does the 1080 @ 24p actually work ?

    Your TV manual does not explain any of the important stuff about what is supported over HDMI & how it handles 24p..

    The information in post #3 could be the clue..
