    Samsung Series 7 running hot

I've got ubuntu 12.04 running on my 14" i5 Samsung Series 7, and i've installed samsung-tools and samsung-laptop. No matter what setting i set the fan to however, (overclock, silent, normal) the cpu temperatures are significantly higher than those of windows. 55-58C in windows browsing around vs. 68-80C in linux. I realize this may be a little more specific to my laptop than linux in general, but, any suggestions?
Also, jupiter didn't seem to have any effect when I tried that and changed to power saver.

    Thanks,
    Schuyler

Some application may be utilizing your CPU above average, maybe you're using some 3D applications without support from drivers? Check CPU utilization, and if it's too high, look for the reason for this.

Double checked, cpu does not seem to be under any real stress.

What graphics driver do you use? The open source driver installed by default is known to have kind of a bad power management.
