SSE2 and going back to Firefox

I have been forced to use Chrome V19 since this is the last working version browser that didn't have SSE2 coding. I have 2 systems both of which have no support for SSE2 but want to go back to old faithful Firefox. IMO chrome uses far too much ram in comparison. I know this could be argued but in my 512mb laptop ubuntu 12.04 just manages to get by until I start using chrome. Switching back to Firefox is a lot smoother.

This problem has been documented https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410547 and https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?...bug&id=3161034 can anyone advise how I would find the last Adobe Flash plugin not to require SSE2 and install it instead of the latest version? or possibly ripping another version from some other browser and use that. Currently the one I use with chrome seems to work ok. I appreciate there are security issues involved.

We @ gentoo are using 10.3.183.18 as of this writing. There is a link in the link you posted to the latest "safe" version:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashp...ribution3.html

Scroll down. Hope that version works for you. Hope more that they'll remove sse2 requirement. Or even better...flash dies altogether.

Re: SSE2 and going back to Firefox

Thanks, I need some help trying to install it. Flash will be going just gradually. Some say it might be 5 years before it is totally phased out if at all. Downside is they are not making a version for Linux. The double snub is google who have picked up the reigns of flash have made their own version which contains the SSE2 coding. Looking at some of googles boards they have no intention of fixing this. Up shot is a linux machine with and old non sse2 cpu is pretty much screwed as far as flash is concerned. Your only options are chrome v19 or firefox with an old flash.

    Either way not good.

Were you able to get this version of Flash to work?
