    Wireless running on eth0

Running 12.04, my wireless adapter is running on eth0
This is causing problems for programs I use that measure signal strength as I imagine most do not expect wireless on ethX
I can boot into Debian using the same driver and it runs on wlan0, and everything works as expected, but not on Ubuntu.

    How can I change this?

    Re: Wireless running on eth0

I suspect that, for Ubuntu 12.04, you cannot, as it's hidden below the level at which you're aware. I had noticed the change, and wondered about all the wireless 'tools' which rely on ports being wlan..

I haven't yet become aware of this occurring in other distros - it will be interesting to see whether it also happens in Mint (which has been Ubuntu based).
