Blender 2.63a Crashes instantly on startup

    Hi guys,

I installed blender 2.63a from ppa a few months ago and had no problem with it until yesterday.

When I click on it's icon Blender opens it's windows ( I have two as I use dual screens ) and then it shuts down with a report window after.

It's becoming very annoying as I have a project I need to get on with, and I've also used Blender for a while.

Any idea's on what could be happening?

    More Info:

    Blender version: Blender 2.63a + svn50264
    O/S: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
D/T Environment: Gnome 3.0 ( not that it makes much of a difference but it could be useful ).

    Thanks.

    Jamie.

I had the same problem 4 days before you started this thread... Mine have no answer so far as yours... I need Blender to play a game thats depends on it... http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2051346

The problem started when I upgraded to the last LTS version of Ubuntu...

The funny thing is, I installed the same as you, but I just downloaded the tar.gz version of blender 2.64a and low and behold...

It launches. Why is it that the one from the website work, whereas the svn one doesn't?
