I need to share files between my three Ubuntu-based systems in my home. I would also like to support remote access to those files from a Ubuntu-based laptop when I'm away from home.
I'm looking for a NAS that supports Ubuntu, and supports Ubuntu well. I want a vendor that if I call for technical support, their first question won't be 'What's Ubuntu?'. After a 'near-death' experience with my main system's hard drive, I require at least RAID-1 support. I don't need a lot of storage; 1TB would be more than enough, based on what I know today.
As I stated, I need some simple sharing of office-style documents - that is, I don't need media streaming. Remote access - if reasonably safe - is very desirable. I don't need to support Windows or Mac clients, although I expect that every product on the market does so.
I don't want to build a NAS, although I know that is perfectly feasible.
Who/what would people recommend? What has worked for you?
Thanks for your time!
