I have an early Acer Aspire One with an SSD hard drive, the early SSDs for this computer did not have a good reputation but I have recently, coincidentally found that if the 16GB SSD is partitioned into 2x 8GB it is much slower than if the disk is used full size.

Is there any logic to this.

A couple of times I have split the drive into 2x 8GB then installed Ubuntu but it was often annoyingly slow, Firefox greying out reporting, Not responding', then starting again.

I recent reload of the same version of Ubuntu onto the complete drive and now it seems to be working fine.

Any comments appreciated.
