Re: How to backup gnome gui in ubuntu server

I see in your dmesg output:

    [ 28.792266] wlan0: authenticate with 00:23:f8:36:4a:bf (try 1)
    [ 28.794199] wlan0: authenticated
    [ 28.797730] wlan0: associate with 00:23:f8:36:4a:bf (try 1)
    [ 28.801252] wlan0: RX AssocResp from 00:23:f8:36:4a:bf (capab=0x431 status=0 aid=1)
    [ 28.801260] wlan0: associated
So your wireless works properly. Since it succesfully associates.

I see in your nm-tool output:

    - Device: wlan0 ----------------------------------------------------------------
    Type: 802.11 WiFi
    Driver: iwl3945
    State: unmanaged
Network-manager is not touching it since you configured the card elsewhere in the system, hence network-manager ignores it.

I guess you need to look at /etc/network/interfaces ?

Re: How to backup gnome gui in ubuntu server

i solved the wireless networks not showing up problem.
and now i am posting the solution here :-
to make wirelss networks show up in wireless icon on to just type in terminal
sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces and comment all the lines under " # The primary network interface "
    like this
    Code:
     # The primary network interface
    #auto wlan0
    #iface wlan0 inet dhcp
        # wireless-* options are implemented by the wireless-tools package
    # wireless-mode managed
    # wireless-essid wireless SSID
    # wireless-key1 wireless password
thanks for the ubuntu community to help
the best communitu thumbs up for you
    i feel like a rockstart
