Ubuntu 12.04 compatibility with dell power edge 2950

Hi ,

I had dell power edge 2950 server installed with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS . due to application compatibility problem i wanted to upgrade the OS to later version . so i upgraded it to Ubuntu 11.04 natty . after upgrade GDM crashes so VNC log file size is increasing rapidly ( ex: 10 GB ) then all the space is consumed for that , therefore need to solve this problem quickly. so hoping to upgrade it to ubuntu 12.04LTS version.

can anyone let me know the compatibility of ubuntu 12.04 LTS with dell power edge 2950 server hardware? will there server hardware problems ?

I don't know about your specific hardware but it's recommended to upgrade anyway since Ubuntu 11.04 is not supported anymore. Also, the LTS releases tend to be more stable. I suggest you upgrade to 12.04 and see if the problem is still present.
