Problems sending E-mails in Precise Pangoline

Hi All,
The title says it all, I am having problems with sending E-mails in 12.04, I can't even enable Evolution so I am stuck with Thunderbird, and when I try to send messages I get the following:-

1. The message could not be sent using SMTP server smtp.ntlworld.com

2. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.ntlworld.com timed out.

This has only happened after a complete re-installation of 12.04

As always all help, suggestions ideas greatly appreciated

check your configuration in Thunderbird port numbers, authentication method, security connection.

Edit -> Account Settings -> SMTP -> Outgoing Server (SMTP).
Get your admin's help for this.


It should work for sure only if you have configured your account settings correctly.

If you have not installed evolution?

sudo apt-get install evolution
