Re: 12.04-How does "it" know that "Updates [are] Available"?
The point is no "online" contacting "home" without permission - or more better (as they say) no online outgoing transmissions or inbound "scanning my system" without permission.
Makes sense from a security standpoint; if "A" automatically checks for updates by seeing what I have here, then why can't "B" check for TS/SCI headers (or whatever) here and store a cookie, a few random bits, or use my broadband to phone home to ET or UBL?
