Really? It says in the guide (link below) to include this detail. Well, even if I don't I suppose its best to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I saw your posts and they are very high quality. However I'm not sure about it with the amount of beans that you have. Maybe write more posts then apply?
As the Ubuntu Studio release manager and a Kubuntu developer, I do a lot of ISO testing and packaging.

Re: Ubuntu membership application - jingaling

    Hey smartboyhw,

I appreciate that I don't have many 'beans' but surely the quality of my posts is far more important than the quantity of them. Anyone could get many hundreds of beans by simply going into threads and saying "have you tried rebooting it?" that doesn't necessarily mean that they are making a valid contribution to the community.

I'd rather have ten good posts under my belt than a thousand rubbish ones.

Also, I've not been as active on here in the past as I would have liked to have been because I have been supporting the project in numerous other ways. Setting up and establishing my blog (jingiblog.blogspot.co.uk, which later was 'upgraded' to refugeeks.com due to popularity), writing chapters for the Ubuntu Manual project, writing for OMG! Ubuntu!, being a forum moderator for the PinguyOS forums (my screen name is KevQuirk and I have hundreds of 'beans' on there ) and also designing & maintaining the PinguyOS website for them.

I haven't bothered mentioning promoting Ubuntu to friends and family and supporting them whilst using it. I've also deployed 3 Ubuntu servers for customers saving them money and feeding this back into the community by way of paid for support from Canonical.

Then there is the numerous donations I make to projects. Whilst I can't help from a development perspective I can help with some money here and there to help the dev's - hopefully this will change over the next year or so as I want to start learning how to code.

I am extremely active in the community and quite frankly a little bit obsessed with Ubuntu ha ha. But it's very much a labour of love - I've even decorated my living room in Ubuntu colours! Don't believe me, take a look at this image:

Or this post on my blog:

    http://refugeeks.com/RefuGeeks/2012/...u-living-roon/

Hopefully all of this 'evidence' goes too prove that although I haven't been as active here on the Ubuntu Forums as I would have liked to have been (although that's changing now as I'm not currently working on other projects) I am still a very active member of the community.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings

    Kev Quirk (Jingaling)
Sat here with a coffee in my Ubuntu mug and keeping warm in my Ubuntu hoodie (that's not a joke either! haha).

Even if I'm not successful, thanks for considering me anyway.

ha ha you figured me out hakermania!

As I said in my previous post, I think there are more ways to contribute to the community than having a tonne of 'beans' in the forums and filing bugs on launchpad.

However I do understand were you're coming from.

    Thanks,

    Jing

Please do not take this as either a -1 nor a +1 - it is not either at this stage

Membership via the forum is for forum contributions - membership via EMEA's is for any contribution

Quantity of beans is certainly not the primary measure in my opinion - contribution and quality of said are.

This is my opinion and not that of the other admins.
