Old Threads: How Old Do They Need To Be to Report Them

    Hello,

I understand that bumping old threads is generally not tolerated, however, I don't see any mention of just how old "old" is in the CoC. The main reason I'm posting this is because I recently reported a post that was bumping a thread that was, if I recall correctly, about a year old, but the thread didn't get closed.

    Thanks!

Re: Old Threads: How Old Do They Need To Be to Report Them

This is a slightly murky area. Typically a thread more than a year old is closed if it gets bumped, however there are sometimes circumstances that would merit it to stay open (say it is the OP re-discovering his thread and continuing on looking for assistance etc.)

But general rule of thumb > 1 year = Close.

Actually, just to make things a little murkier, if there is no activity in a thread for 1 year, it should be closed.

I just noticed that the CoC now states "a year or so."
