AMD Radeon 7750/7770 Audio over HDMI

Hello folks, I recently bought a 7750 with the intention of using the HDMI output to my receiver in the living room. Install went without a hitch, by default Ubuntu puts a "hardware not supported" watermark on the screen. I did follow a guide to install the 12.5 driver about a month ago but still couldn't get audio over HDMI.

Took the card out and now it's laying there useless.

Can someone confirm/deny if these cards work now with the 12.6 drivers? 12.7 beta?

This is a simple machine running a phenom CPU and the onboard 4250 is just not cutting it for playing videos. The graphics were perfect once the 7750 was in and the 12.5 driver from what I could tell, but no audio is a deal breaker for me. I can't route separate cables just for the audio into my receiver either.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    No responses here.

On another forum I saw someone say that these cards use a Realtek chip that requires separate drivers to show the audio HDMI device. Realtek seems to provide linux drivers. Has anyone had any luck with this?
