Wrong date format in Thunderbird 12.0.1

I am using Thunderbird 12.0.1 with Lightning 1.4. How can I get the date in the format of 29/5/2012 instead of this [image attached].

Click Edit > Preferences > General tab > Date Text Format and flick the drop-down menu to your desired Day/Date/Month

Thank you, it looks tricky. I will first try changing Regional Formats in Language Support.

The date is now in the proper format (DD/MM/YY). However I cannot say for sure what solved it.
