Resolution changes when I'm gone for a while

I set up Ubuntu 12.04 on my parent's kinda new computer. Everything works well, except one thing: The resolution sometimes changes from 1280x1024 to 1024x768 when coming back from inactivity. When I then go to Settings->Displays it automagically goes back to 1280x1024 without me needing to press any button. The connected display is a CRT with default resolution of 1280x1024.

Looks like there's a bug for this here. I've mapped xrandr to a keyboard shortcut to minimize the pain.
