I have a couple of old desktop PCs that I'm going to donate with some version of Ubuntu on them. I tried Ubuntu 12.04 LTS as well as Lubuntu. I think Lubuntu will work best.

However, Standby does not work on these PCs. Hibernation works great. I was able to remove the "Standby" entry from the Logout (Shutdown) menu in Ubuntu easily, but I was not able to find a way to do it in Lubuntu. I was able to disable Standby, so if you click it you get a message that says "Not authorized," but I want it gone entirely. I don't want users to get confused even by seeing it.

Any ideas? I tried a couple of policy things that didn't remove it...
