installing gnome core

I was trying to install gnome core so that i can later install vnc server and vnc into my server and i get this error. I'm running ubuntu 12.04

Now whenever i try to run sudo apt-get install gnome-core i get the error E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.

Try going into Synaptic. If gnome, gnome-core, gnome-session-fallback, or (if you know what you are doing) basically any of the packages under GNOME Desktop Environment are installed, select them for Complete Removal (if you don't know what packages you need, just remove gnome, gnome-core, and gnome-session-fallback). Then, try installing the packages from Synaptic.
But, if you are uncomfortable using Synaptic, just lookup Gnome in the Software Center, and uninstall Gnome and any of the addons that were installed.
