Realtek HD ALC888 Makes No Sound

I have Xubuntu 12.04 32bit, and no matter what I try I can't seem to produce sound. I installed the linux driver from the Realtek website and I had no success. Not sure why it doesn't work? It used to work out of the box when I had Ubuntu.

The link to the driver if you wanted to see it
    http://www.realtek.com/downloads/dow...&GetDown=false

    I believe it's Realtek ALC888

Re: Realtek HD ALC888 Makes No Sound

I just googled a couple of sites and one said to install pulse audio volume control

    Code:
      sudo apt-get install pavucontrol
If you haven't already and unmute , check to see if sound card is the same as aplay-l
If there is a line with the sound card in mixer but a check in it.

    Thats alright ,,
In the configuration tab change settings to analog stereo duplex, or one of the analog speaker settings.

Also turn up pcm in alsamixer
