Menu bar hiding on main monitor

    I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity3D.

In my secondary monitor, the menu bar for my programs (File, Edit, View, etc) becomes visible when I scroll my mouse over any section of the bar, making it very easy to select menu options. I imagine that this is how it's intended to work.

However, in my primary monitor (The one built into my laptop), if I move the mouse even slightly to the left of the File menu, the options disappear. It will reappear again if I continue moving the mouse to about 1/3 of the way across the screen, but that's beyond the extent of the menu bar. See attachments. This only happens when I have the secondary monitor plugged in.

The launcher is only placed on the main (Laptop) monitor, and sticky edges are off, if either of those make a difference.

I'm wondering if anyone knows a fix for this.

I ended up disabling Global Menu, and that at least worked around the problem.
