Oh wow. I hadn't seen this, either. I think this might be the last bit that gets me to switch from Shell to Unity.

Forgive my ignorance, but hasn't Chrome already been doing this for ages?

(Not sure how well it works in Ubuntu, haven't used it in a long time)

AFAIR, Mozilla Labs did Prism (no longer active, though) before Google Chrome's inception.

My understanding is that web apps is like prism, but much more integrated with unity.

If a video of a tree falling is trending on Google+, does it make a sound?

On topic: yes, the 12.10 devs have just rolled out an awesome new web app integration feature which is available to try in 12.04 right now using a PPA.

Sort of. If the task manager can parse it properly, Chrome's web app feature can let you create a launcher for a web app (by hand) and keep it separate from other Chrome windows in the dock. The sound menu and HUD integration is the new and crazy awesome part, though.

if content updates and im alerted while I log in to my desktop, this is a huge win. If I have to start the application, almost like Thunderbird just to see if I have new mail, I wont give this feature much use.
