Question Lubuntu software centre has nothing in it

Having used Ubuntu for 3 years, I am reviving some old, low RAM PCs with Lubuntu.

I find that the Lubuntu software centre has almost nothing in it. I am used to the richness of the Ubuntu one. Why is this?

Do I just use the Synaptics package manager to get what I want? Will I run a danger of:
    - getting something which doesn't work on Lubuntu
    - getting something which isn't very smart for the Lubuntu environment (
let me amplify: of course I could load something daft like Dash, but if I stick to things like Gedit, Idle/Python, gPodder, shall I get into problems by bringing in lots of RAM heavy stuff?)

    Thanks for you help

In my opinion they will be fine with RAM you have .Because as i have seen they are not much eaters .

If you don't mind for what purpose you're using LUbuntu System ? , because i feel your answer depends what you will do with your Ubuntu .

    Thank you .

LSC doesn't have support for commercial applications, hence why we have less. You can install Ubuntu Software Centre if that helps you.

Installing RAM-heavy apps won't make a difference unless you start them. Some desktops like KDE have daemons that may slow things down.

    Thanks

I'll play around with a few downloads, but how do I install the Ubuntu SW centre?

No "support for commercial applications". Does this rule out Skype?

I think so, sorry. You can get a one-click installer from their website though.

    Search for "Ubuntu Software Centre".

We're working on a better one, if not for next release, then for the release after that.
