12.04: DVDs not playing even though I installed libdvdread4

Just installed 12.04 on my new Packard Bell laptop. Trying to set up media playing stuff, installed ubuntu-restricted-extras, libdvdread4 and vlc. But DVDs won't play. No error message with vlc - it just won't play. If I try totem, I get message:

    An error occured
Could not read DVD. This may be because the DVD is encrypted and a DVD decryption library is not installed.
    Any ideas?

Try installing libdvdcss2, IIRC it's in the medibuntu repository.

Never mind, I had a FBKAC. All better now. I just had to follow the instructions properly (which I had not).

Incidentally, the instructions I didn't follow fully are here.
