Hardware question - Intel Deskboard DQ965GF & Intel C2D E6300

Hi,

Just wondering if this setup would be able to run HD movies, or if i would need a GPU. I want to install XBMC Ubuntu on it.

With integrated graphics, HD movies may barely be acceptable. But, you'll have to try it and find out how it works.

It looks like the PCI-E (PCI Express) spec on this board is old, only supports up to 1.0a, which means most PCI-E X16 graphics cards you could buy cheaply won't work, since most of them now are 2.0 or higher.

I have that MOBO with a Pentium E6600 dual core and found the internal graphics to be very shotty. I have a Nvidia GeForce 7300 GS in the PCIe slot and have no problem playing hi-def video.
