Aaaawesome, can't wait for this. Dota2 running on ubuntu would be great. Really like where this is going : )

I'm in the beta! Oh happy day!
Of course, I dropped everything I was doing and installed it as fast as I could.
I tried installing a couple of games (Amnesia, Serious Sam 3: BFE and Dynamite Jack). All installed without a hitch. I'm using pretty diminutive hardware (Ivybridge Mobile), so the fact that SS3 even runs (and rather well at that) is pretty impressive. It does have a couple of texture bugs though. (For example: http://i.imgur.com/JjyY3.jpg)
The Steam client itself feels kind of sluggish, actually. Maximizing the window doesn't seem to work too well (sometimes it works, sometimes nothing happens, and sometimes this happens: http://imgur.com/2dYge). Big Picture causes X to crash occasionally on exit, although I suppose that is technically X.org's fault.
Overall, there are definitely some issues to work out, but that's what betas are for, right?

Oh man! I'm majorly jealous! I so wanted to be part of the beta testing.
Definitely keep us posted. I think Nothingspecial had an idea a while back about setting up a beta testing thread similar to the Ubuntu +1 threads to help others troubleshoot and to keep everyone in the loop. That would definitely be cool!
Update to the latest Nvidia drivers. MUCH better performance!
Steam: ubuntugamer( Add me ) | Gaming: Left 4 Dead 2, Metro Last Light, Assassin's Creed 4, Forced
I'm bummed that I didn't get an invite, but at least the beta is live and the rest of us are a step closer.
I wonder if the client is restricted to 12.04, or does it apply to tho whole 12.x branch so that it runs on 12.10 also. Sadly enough i wasn't chosen in the BETA but can somebody confirm or deny this ?
