The install script command that seems to be the problem is:
    sudo dpkg -i /tmp/ff32/gsfonts-x11_0.20build1_all.deb

Swiftweasel32 works fine, the fonts look different than firefox32.
I am not sure how to fix this (simply creating the /usr/lib/X11/fonts and /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1 directory does not help).
It looks like these is a problem when installing the package. It is a package directly from the Ubuntu repositories. The version is for Gutsy. You may want to file a bug report on launchpad if there is an error installing it.

This works great, but for some reason, lots of buttons aren't showing up correctly:

    Any ideas?

I observed the same thing with firefox32. I was then using Swiftweasel as all the button graphics were correct + it seemed a bit snappier. At some point, I tried Icecat just to experiment. Some time after that, firefox32 buttons are now just fine - icecat and ff32 (3.0) have an identical look and feel as far as I can tell.

    Swiftweasel did the trick, thanks.

Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

Is there any way to associate the firefox logo with the firefox32 program? In the Applications list, and when it's present in my window list, it shows up as a blank white application. I added the program to my panel, and obviously that's easy to associate a new icon with (which I've done), so I figured there must be a way to do it for these other things too.

Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

Using the latest script (2Jul08 ff32_3in1_6293.tar.gz) on Ubuntu 7.10 Intel 64 bits with Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 I am unable to have mplayer work. For all the formats that it supports (say mpeg) I see the buffering load phase happen as expected and than nothing is displayed. I have tried a number of re installations etc... and I am not sure what to try/test next. The browser often just hangs.

sudo wget -c http://mirrors.kesudo wget -c http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/poo....31-1_i386.deb return a "404" not found ... but I was able to get this .deb from some other places (like http://download.thaigrid.or.th/pub/u...playerplug-in/)

I'm having this same no icons problem with Firefox 3.0 32bit. What did you do with Swiftweasel to get the icons back into Firefox 3.0 32bit? My icons are all fine for Firefox 3.0 64bit.

Also, quick thanks to the tutorial author. I really needed Java support so that I could access my Uni's online discussion space and this sorted it for me.

Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

I am still unable to use mplayer: I have a mplayer box displayed, but nothing plays.

For example if I select mpeg at this test page:
http://fredrik.hubbe.net/plugger/test.html, I shows buffering 83% and then stopped without displaying any video.

Note that this returns "404 not found":
    wget -c http://mirrors.kesudo wget -c http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/poo....31-1_i386.de http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/poo....31-1_i386.deb returns a "404" not found .

But I got the deb from http://download.thaigrid.or.th/pub/u...playerplug-in/

I am really not sure what to try next
I failed in my last post to provide all the info:

I am not sure if this additional info might help:

    cpu: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz

jacques@sky:~$ locate mplayer | grep bin
    /usr/bin/vmplayer
    /usr/bin/gmplayer
    /usr/bin/mplayer64

    Note that substituting this string:
    mozilla-mplayer_3.31-1_i386.deb
    by this string
    mozilla-mplayer_3.50-1ubuntu3_i386.deb
(suggested in this thread somewhere) did not help.

If I type about : plugins in the Firefox address bar, I get a long list (bellow)
It looks like Firefox is looking at version 3.50 (not 3.31), I am not sure why or if this could be the problem.

    What can I try next?

Assuming you are running the default gnome desktop: right-click on Application (upper left) and select "Edit Menus". Then select Internet / Firefox32 3.0 Web Browser. Right-click and select "Properties". You will then get a chance to add the icon just as you did for your panel.

Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

Thanks, automated scripts works fine in Hardy 64.
There's only a little issue in the script: mozilla-mplayer_3.50-1ubuntu3_i386.deb is no more available on Ubuntu repository. I've changed every occurrence in mozilla-mplayer_3.55-1ubuntu1_i386.deb.
    Videos are ok.
Another issue is that is impossible to localize Firefox using an official xpi language pack, at least for Italian.
